It's been a bad couple of weeks if you're a Taurus. Specifically, if you're our 2002 Ford Taurus.
The month of April began innocently enough. But that all changed one Thursday night when we were leaving the Target parking lot. We were all ready for a study date at Barnes & Noble, but our Taurus didn't want to leave. Every time we put it into gear the engine shut off and it wouldn't budge. Fortunately, our friends from church were able to pick us up and drive us home.
Now going into that Thursday I knew two things about transmissions. One was the Latin etymology of the word (trans = across, missio = to send) and the other was that they're expensive to fix.
I'm starting to think I should have taken shop class in high school instead of Latin.
One week and a couple thousand dollars later we had our Taurus back, as good as old. Everything was starting to return to normalcy when an elderly woman rear-ended our Taurus on Kelly's way to work today. The woman received a ticket for "following too closely," which is usually the case when you leave some of your car's paint on the bumper in front of you.
Despite the vehicular distractions, Kelly and I are both in the middle of finishing up our academic terms. Only a few weeks remain before summer! We're looking forward to trips home to Michigan and out to Idaho, as well as a tennis class and less homework.
Check back soon for my first ever sermon.

hey, if you guys ever wanna talk about car trouble, just give me a call. ;-) I could write a book on all the tow truck drivers I've met in my life.....
so good to hear from your world.....i hope everything trucks along smoothly with finishing up the semester.
sorry about your car :-( a similar thing happened to me when i moved to LA. now that i'm in nyc, it's not my problem if the subway breaks down! sounds like you two are blessed with good freinds from the church. good luck with the end of exams! i'm starting my MAT (master's of art in teaching secondary history/social studies) this summer and still working full time!
