With Boeing, the sky's no limit

So... I have been funding the tuition bills with my job at Boeing. I work in their military division, Integrated Defense Systems, which is the part of the company that produces all of the war fighters, helicopters, cargo jets, and weapons for the US and other countries around the world. My official role is a “supplier quality engineer” and I basically go around to different suppliers helping them develop the technical skills they need to do a good job. If a bad part is delivered from a supplier, I help investigate and fix the issues and make sure it doesn’t happen again. So far the job has worked out really well and it’s been a great opportunity to build both career skills and personal skills working with people.

So the best part of my job is that when I'm not at suppliers, I get to work from home! Boeing pays for our internet connection and provides everything we need for the home office.

This is me working really hard at a work conference (Salt Lake City, UT)

At the end of 2007, I was named “Employee of the Quarter” by my peers. I've also been working on a lot of special projects. I was on a team to develop new hire training for future new hires to the organization and I also recently co-instructed a course to my colleagues on statistical data analysis, specifically related to helping suppliers keep their manufacturing processes under control and working efficiently.

Besides work, I am taking full advantage of Boeing’s 100% tuition coverage for graduate school and I began working on my Chemical Engineering master’s degree at Washington University in St. Louis. I'm almost half way done with the program now. Ever since we are both in school, we have enjoyed keeping each other company as we study together. Sometimes it really seems like all we do... but we are looking forward to summer when we both get a break!
