Today there are officially 10 days left until my due date! Wow has time flown by! The bags are packed, and gas is in the car (right, John??)...
Despite all of our excitement and anticipation, these last weeks have not been entirely without complication. Last week we learned that little Vera is breech, and she hasn't quite figured out how to get her head down into the right spot! This has created some new challenges for us, and here is a quick update.
Over the past week and a half I have been diligently seeing a chiropractor who specializes in working with pregnant women and turning breech babies. So far no luck, but I really think it has been useful because she seems to be moving around a lot more since I started there.
We have a procedure scheduled for this Thursday, September 23rd (4 days!) called an external cephalic version. We were referred to a special high-risk doctor to perform the procedure, where basically they will use ultrasound and physical pushing and maneuvering my belly to try to turn Vera around. The version has a little over a 50% success rate, it is painful for many women and has been known on rare occasion to cause the need for an immediate c-section. So on Thursday we will be checking into the labor&delivery ward of the hospital and praying that we will be leaving a few hours later without complication and with a turned around baby! :)
If the version is unsuccessful and we cannot get her to turn, we will be scheduling a c-section for around my due date. We trust that God has us all in his hands and no matter how it happens we can't wait to meet our daughter.
I'm still feeling great, and still getting bigger! Here is an updated belly pic from today!
