We are happy to know that our blog readers love us so much that they actually start complaining when we haven't posted in um…. *cough* almost 2 months! So, we are back by popular demand. We've decided to take the night off from running errands, baby projects, and getting the house ready to bring you a brand new post. I should say that only I am taking the night off, while John attempts to put our living room back together from the new carpet we just got installed. More on that later!
We've had a busy last couple months! First of all, we did finish up our vacation on Lake Michigan and had a great relaxing time there. I'll let the pictures do the talking:
As many of you know, my grandma had been growing very sick for the past several months with parkinson's disease. God welcomed her into his loving presence on July 23. Although we will miss her dearly, we rejoice that her suffering has ended and now she lives in complete joy and restoration, forever home with the God she loves. As I think of my grandma in light of starting out as our own little family, I can't help but think of all the ways she has shaped and molded us. There are small things, like that I will love singing her lullabies to my own daughter. But there are also things that go much deeper… things like love, compassion, faithfulness, and servitude. As I embark on motherhood for the first time, I am feeling ever more grateful for the many women in my life who have shown me first-hand what these qualities look like. My grandma blessed us in many ways, but I can't think of any blessing more valuable than these.
Much of our time over the past month has been spent getting our home ready for little Vera! We have had some random adventures along the way…. But right now we have a very nearly complete nursery and all of the baby gear a little girl could need! Clothes, blankets, and diapers are washed and ready, and things are really looking like a baby is taking over. (Nursery pictures will be coming soon, we promise!!!)
As for some of the random events in the Hile home, here are just a few:
We finally finished this puzzle a few weeks ago. This has been on our coffee table for well over 2 months - probably way longer. So it really is quite the victory. We were starting to wonder if it would take us so long that we'd be asking for Vera's help.

Frogs in our house!!! (well, one toad to be exact) This little critter followed us into our house one night - It jumped around our living room for awhile before John was able to direct it back outside to its rightful home.
Our latest adventure (or disaster…. same thing, right?) was a water leak on our main floor. This was quite the ordeal, especially since it took some extreme bargaining power to get our landlord to replace our carpet. Luckily I am pretty good at bargaining, and as my proud husband said to me later, "You always get what you want." ;) Apparently he is familiar with my bargaining too. He's not complaining, since today we are living it up on our new DRY carpet.

I love this picture of all of us with Grandma. I've never seen it. It's such a great one!
