We have an important date coming up that we wanted to let you all know about. CALL DAY 2009!
John's program at the seminary is 4 years long, and the 3rd year (this upcoming year) is used as a vicarage/internship year. The students are assigned to churches across the country and Call Day is when you receive your call from the Church to your given assignment. Call Day is both for vicarage/internship calls and for final calls after graduation.
Call Day this year is Wednesday, April 22, 2009.
We have been given some heads-up about our assignment, and we are grateful to be receiving a local call, meaning we will be assigned to a church within an hour of St. Louis. This is really an awesome blessing, since I can still finish my degree as planned and keep my job. Also, hopefully we will be able to stay put at our current apartment.
As it is coming closer, we are realizing that Call Day is quite a big event! For us, many of our friends will be moving away for a year :( and everyone at seminary is quite anxious about where their assignments will be. A whole stream of events take place... John will be likely be able to meet his assigned church's pastor, and there is time to meet and talk with the district presidents, who hold a lot of say in the final placement of students after graduation.
We are really excited and we wanted to invite you to share with us - the vicarage call ceremony will be at 3pm central/4pm eastern on Wednesday, and you can watch the service LIVE online at the following link:

Also, a list of the assignments will be posted at this link on 9pm central/10pm eastern on Wednesday night.
