Missouri Loves Company

Summer is in full swing here in St. Louis! John and I are finally done with classes and now we are enjoying plenty of time in the great outdoors. We started a tennis class this week at the local community college and we are also planning several hiking day-trips around the area to get in shape for our vacation to Idaho this summer. There are not so many mountains to hike here... but definitely some river views and lots of wildlife. We spotted a young white-tail buck on our hike today.

John has enjoyed a nice two week break from classes - but I didn't let him off that easily... he starts work soon. He got a job working full time for the summer at the Lutheran Church's international missions organization, LCMS World Mission. He has an internship in their communication department, and his job will include things like organizing communications/updates from missionairies overseas, and creating external PR documents - mostly used for communication with churches who are supporting the various mission activities. Sounds perfect, right?!

As for me, I just received a promotion this week at work! My job still stays the same, but basically I was promoted to the next level of "technical expertise." Work stays pretty busy most of the time and I am still working from home around 2-3 days per week. A lot of my work with suppliers right now has to do with the P-8A Poseidon and the V-22 Osprey. The P-8A is a brand new aircraft and the first one is scheduled for flight tests in 2009 - so it is kind of cool to be a part of it.

Not all of our activities are so physically strenuous - we are doing plenty of relaxing too! This weekend we are planning to go to a free showing of Shakespeare's King Richard III under the stars in Forest Park! There are a lot of fun, free things to do around here in the summer - plays, concerts, museums, the zoo... making St. Louis a great place to visit! *hint hint*

(hanging out with John and Kelly is also free)
